Better Than Nothing

This is a work in progress but it has flashes of brilliance and definite potential.

The creative thinking of Josh Canfield, it clearly shows his love and "the right touch" for musicals. Showcased at the Shaw Theatre, London, it was a delight to watch for someone who doesn't come from a musical or theatre background, but knows what she likes.

What stood out for me was the whole entity and not any one person; song (although a few were excellent and needs no re-working like the Audition Song/Panel's Lament) or line.

With only a piano; a table and a few chairs for props, if Mr Canfield was given a chance, this show and him could develop into something special. All the players gave their time freely and only had 4 rehearsals together before the one night showcase; impressive and professional are the words that spring to mind.

The show's writer, Billy Haney, only started writing this musical 4 months ago and in such a short time with other commitments, Ms Haney and Mr Canfield have come up with something that is a truly good developing piece of work.

As I type they are both working on another musical. It seems that sooner or later, they'll become more well-known than just amongst their friends.
